Pentecost Celebrations 2011

Pentacost Celebrations 2011

While preparing for the Pentecost, the children waited on the Lord for His message and some drew a picture of what they saw, some wrote a song, some wrote a message

Friday night we celebrated the birthday of the nation of Israel at Mt Sinai when God gave His law and made a covenant with the Israelites and the birthday of the church at Mt Zion when God gave His Holy Spirit and wrote His law within our hearts.  So there was much activity all week as groups prepared dramas, dances, songs, food and activities for the party.  We started the evening at sundown by lighting 9 bon fires each representing one of the nine powerful supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit(words of knowledge, words of wisdom, prophecy, speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, working miracles, faith, healing and discerning of spirits..see I Corinthians 12: 7-12).  The air was crisp and cold with clear skies and as the moon came up it was encircled with a halo as we sang and praised the living God who has rescued redeemed and restored purpose and destiny in our lives.

We lit the shabat candles and then anointed the bon fires with oil representing the anointing of power that comes upon us when the Spirit of the Lord moves in and through us to serve.  We have some photos of the festivities and Samuel (aged 10) preached from Acts 1:8" you will receive power after the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth" and the whole student body of Hope Academy enacted the scenario of the Acts 2 "when the day of Pentecost came and they were all in one place nad in one accord..."as the 120 in the upper room were filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues in the streets of Jerusalem.  People then thought they were drunk but only to discover they were experiencing what the prophet Joel prophesied would happen when God poured out His Spirit on all flesh.

Peter stood up and preached " men of Jerusalem these are not drunk as you supposed for it is only the third hour of the day but this is what was spoken of by the prophet Joel" and 3000 people were born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit.  After all the dramas and music and dance and preaching we all received a blanket for winter given to us by one of our neighbours who owns the Swaziland back packers, a box from Samaritans purse that is supposed to come at Christmas time but instead it came at Pentecost, and then some of the children received a warm sweater top and a pair of takkies (sneakers or trainers) this year not all could receive as the finances were limited.

Tirzah, Philippa and Joanna composed and sang a new song unto the Lord

We see the two major times God our father gave were at Christmas when He gave us His only begotten Son who came to give us salvation or new life and then again at Pentecost when He gave us His Holy Spirit to empower us to live the new life in spirit and in truth.  So we give gifts symbolically on these two occasions each year.

We want to thank all of those who sponsor children and who send gifts, quilts, blankets, clothes and funds that enables us to live in the knowledge of God’s faithful provision and blessings.  Our teenagers cooked pap(dry porridge in the big black three legged pot) and the vegetable stew in another big black three legged pot over the wood flames under the stars and then we braaied (barbequed) wors (the traditional south African sausages) on the open wood fires. Bed time was rather delayed and we almost saw the sun come up in the morning with all the joy, fun and excitement of celebrating the wonderful and wonderworking outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  Praise God we only need to ask and receive God’s gift of eternal life and His gift of the Holy Spirit to be able to live the life of grace, peace, joy and purpose for which we were created.

May God bless you with His peace and provision, His life and Presence in this season of Pentecost.

Pentacost Celebrations 2010

Friday 28 May

We had a Pentecost party which included 9 drums of flaming fires the whole evening representing the 9 supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit, the power gifts. The children and staff had prepared songs of rejoicing and thanksgiving for the evening. The program opened with Joanna and Ms Edna (teenage girls caregiver) lighting the two Shabbat candles, followed by Mr Lucky (Hope Academy monitor) praying the blessings as the representative of the father of the home. Then the songs and dances began. Make Leah (cook and laundry lady) sang the sweetest song as a solo and the anointing was so sweet. Uncle Sabelo (Tabernacle caretaker) sang a solo about the Holy Spirit, and the big girls had composed a new song about Jesus ascending to heaven and the Holy Spirit coming down on Pentecost so we have a new song in the house. The caregivers, the preschool teachers and the teenage boys sang. The teenage girls did an amazing dance that was so anointed and the heaviest anointing was on Joanna who really excelled. From the moment they stood in position to dance, the anointing was upon her and she really carried it all the way through. Debrah and Anastasia choreographed it and they spent the week preparing it. Apostle Bheki agreed for them to do the dance in church which was great. The big girls also did a dance of joy and Anastasia did a lovely dance of thanksgiving as the last item on the program.

During the program we had 9 children pray one by one of the fire representing that gift followed by waiting on the Lord to give a word, prophecy or something about each gift. Wow! We have some prophets, in the house - words of knowledge and wisdom, 3 or 4 people interpreting tongues, 4 prophecies and Tirzah and Debrah had extensive prophetic words. For healing, Ms Rachael had a vision of a lump being dissolved in a person that she had prayed for on Thursday, Hallelujah. The words were involving the children’s role in the country bringing revival, the deliverance from AIDS with a healing revival, the healing of Swaziland and the overflow to other nations, and the children being the carriers of revival into the nation.

We celebrated the bread and wine using 5 pairs of sweet loaves of bread representing the body of Christ and Israel, 5 representing the number of grace. The bread was offered around in pairs, one person praying for the Body of Christ the church in Swaziland and the other person praying for Israel and so it was prayer for the peace and protection of Israel and also to receive the Holy Spirit and take their place in the nations. We had two cups of wine to celebrate the cleansing blood. Truly the Abraham family is ready and equipped now to do the disciples job from Pentecost in our nation. We will soon be hearing reports of people saying we have come into the community or town and turned the place upside down - the healings, the deliverances, the salvations and baptisms of the Holy Spirit are now on the way. Hallelujah and the greatest part is that the children really understand the time has come and what it means.WOW!!!!
